Smoking Policy
Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center
Smoking is acknowledged to be both a fire and health hazard. As a healthcare provider, it is the organization’s responsibility to join in the promotion of a more healthful lifestyle as well as provide a safe smoke-free environment for patients, visitors, employees and the medical staff. Therefore, Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center has joined other area health care providers in promoting a smoke-free environment.
- Smoking by employees, visitors or medical staff members will not be allowed in the interior of Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center.
- Employees, visitors and medical staff members will be allowed to smoke only in designated areas outside Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center.
- Visitors found smoking within Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center will be informed of the smoking policy and the directed to the designated outside smoking areas.
Designated smoking areas for patients and visitors are located outside of the Emergency Room and Outpatient Surgery entrances.
- Employees or medical staff members found smoking within Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center facilities will face disciplinary action per established guide.
- Visitor and employee smoking areas will be located a sufficient distance from any facility entrance or air intake to prevent the drafting of smoke into the building or the exposure of others to second hand smoke.
